Chennai. There was a stir at Chennai International Airport late on Tuesday night when information was received about a malfunction in the left engine of the Indigo flight coming from Kolkata. As a precaution, full emergency was declared at the airport. However, due to the wisdom of the pilots, the plane landed safely and all 224 passengers and crew members on board remained safe.
Engine failure just before landing-
Indigo flight 6E-723 coming from Kolkata to Chennai reached Chennai airport at around 11:30 pm on Tuesday night. Meanwhile, the pilots discovered a fault in the left engine of the plane. Information about oil leakage in the engine also came to light.
The crew immediately informed Air Traffic Control (ATC). After this the airport administration immediately activated the emergency protocol.
Fire tenders and medical teams deployed on the runway-
As a precautionary measure, fire tenders, rescue vehicles and medical teams were deployed around the runway. Full emergency was declared at around 11:29 pm.
Despite technical problems with the engine, the pilots kept the situation under control and landed the plane safely on Runway 25 at around 11:37 pm.
224 passengers and crew safe-
As soon as the plane landed, emergency teams examined it. Before evacuating the passengers, the officials ensured that there was no danger in the plane.
The emergency was lifted at around 11:47 pm after it was confirmed that all passengers and crew were safe. After this, flight operations continued normally at Chennai Airport.
