An easyJet flight carrying British holidaymakers travelling from the UK to Spain made a priority landing on Monday morning (September 7) after a mystery smell was reported in the cabin. The EZY2715 flight, which had departed Bristol Airport shortly after 6am, requested an expedited arrival as a precaution.
The Captain alerted air traffic controllers to the issue to ensure a prompt touchdown. The A320 jet was due to land at Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport (AGP) – five miles south of the iconic city centre in Andalusia, Spain – and was given priority to land on runway 12, one of the hub’s two runways. The plane went on to touch down safely at 9.37am local time, according to Flightradar24, while the Costa del Sol airport scrambled emergency crews as a routine precaution.
All passengers were able to disembark normally as local staff met the aircraft, with the plane leaving the runway without incident shortly afterwards. Malaga Airport is now operating as normal.
The Express contacted AENA, the operator of Malaga Airport, who declined to comment.
A spokesperson for easyJet said: “Flight EZY2715 from Bristol to Malaga on 7 September requested an expedited landing due to a suspected technical issue.
“The aircraft landed safely and was met by emergency services as a routine and precautionary measure only. All passengers disembarked as normal.
“The safety of our customers and crew is easyJet’s highest priority.”
