Parliament Protest: Protest by Rahul Gandhi, Akhilesh, Mahua Moitra, demand for resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan

New Delhi, 23 July. On Thursday, during the monsoon session of Parliament on the issue of paper leak and education system, leaders of INDI alliance protested at Makar Dwar located in the Parliament complex. Many opposition MPs including Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav participated in the protest. Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav raised questions on the accountability of the government and said that the government should accept its responsibility.

He said that looking at the functioning of the government in Uttar Pradesh, it is clear that accountability cannot be limited to just sending money into accounts. According to him, the government should also answer on matters like paper leak. Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Mahua Moitra also targeted the central government. He said that many metro stations of Delhi have been kept closed for the third consecutive day and the government cannot be run in this manner. He alleged that the government is trying to suppress the voice of the protesting students.

Mahua Moitra said that the opposition inside and outside the Parliament has only one demand that Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan should resign. He said that there should be resignation first, only then any kind of discussion can take place. He also raised questions on the government’s announcement of fast track court and said that the government should first respond to the cases registered against the students and the action taken during the protest. According to him, the political and administrative responsibility of the paper leak and related incidents rests with the Education Minister.
