Parthiv Patel: Big news has come out regarding BCCI’s men’s selection committee. After the tenure of former Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar, former Indian wicketkeeper batsman Parthiv Patel was considered a strong contender for this post, but Parthiv has not applied for this post. In such a situation, the discussion has intensified regarding the possibility of former spinner Pragyan Ojha becoming the full-time Chief Selector.
Parthiv Patel did not apply
There were speculations for a long time that Parthiv Patel could replace Ajit Agarkar, but he has not applied for the post. The last date to apply for the vacant post from West Zone was Wednesday 14 October till 5 pm. But Parthiv did not submit the application. According to a BCCI source, the situation can change only if the board extends the deadline or the former wicketkeeper changes his mind.
Pragyan Ojha will take charge
After Parthiv Patel not applying, now it is considered almost certain that Pragyan Ojha will complete his tenure as chairman of the selection committee. From this move of Parthiv, it seems that he wants to continue with the support staff of Gujarat Titans and his commentary and due to this he has decided to step back from becoming a selector.
Who will be the new selector?
Pragyan Ojha, representing South Zone, is likely to remain the president for the remaining period of his tenure. Among the current selectors, his claim has become stronger as he has the maximum number of Test matches to his name. On the other hand, the name of former Indian spinner Ramesh Pawar from West Zone is also going forward. He can become a contender for the post of senior selector.
