Partnerships are very important for common interests – Rajnath Singh, Defense Minister participated in Defense Investor Summit
New Delhi. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh invited German industry leaders for co-development and co-production of advanced defense technologies with India at the Defense Investor Summit held in Germany. He said that amid growing global uncertainties, partnerships based on trust and common interests are extremely important. In his address, Singh cited the changing geopolitical situation, supply chain disruptions and rapid technological changes as the main reasons for the need for deeper cooperation. He said that today countries and industries are reevaluating their dependencies and looking for reliable partners for stability and continuity.

Presenting India as a large and emerging market, the Defense Minister said that it has a rapidly developing industrial ecosystem with a young and skilled workforce. He stressed that India offers an opportunity for long-term strategic partnership, not just short-term. The Defense Minister underlined the opportunities for cooperation with German companies under the Self-reliant India initiative. He said that Indian companies are eager for partnership in areas like advanced radar systems, AI based drones, sensor technology and underwater systems. Talking about India’s long-term vision, he said the country aims to become a developed nation by 2047. He clarified that self-reliance does not mean being self-centred, but designing, developing and producing in collaboration with trusted partners. Singh said a strong defense industrial ecosystem will not only strengthen national security but also promote economic strength and global competitiveness. He also highlighted the reforms undertaken in the last decade, including liberalized policies to ease doing business, strong regulatory framework and investment in infrastructure.
During his visit to Germany, he also visited a submarine manufacturing facility in Kiel, indicating strengthening of maritime cooperation between the two countries. Earlier, he held bilateral talks with the Defense Minister of Germany in Berlin, in which further deepening of defense cooperation was discussed. An agreement related to Defense Industrial Cooperation Roadmap and training for United Nations peacekeeping missions was also signed between the two countries. In conclusion, the Defense Minister expressed confidence that India-Germany relations will further strengthen and in the times to come, this partnership will reach new heights based on innovation, capability and strategic cooperation.
