Pat Cummins himself announced, told when he will play his first match in IPL 2026

Pat Cummins’ path has been cleared to play for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in IPL 2026 after the recent scan of his back in Sydney. His aim is to return to the field in late April.

Sunrisers Hyderabad’s regular captain Cummins was with the team at the start of the tournament, but returned to Australia earlier this month for scans. The scan has revealed that his back injury has healed. Due to this injury, he could play only one match since July last year.

Responding to an Instagram post from a family holiday in the Blue Mountains, Cummins said he was due to return to India on Friday and was aiming to play against Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur on April 25.

Cummins was diagnosed with a ‘lumbar bone strain’ in August after initially feeling some pain during the West Indies tour. For this reason he could play only one Test match in the Ashes. It was expected that he would recover after the T20 World Cup, but even after being selected in the team, he could not be completely fit.

With two wins in five matches, Sunrisers Hyderabad team is currently at fourth position in the points table. In the absence of Cummins, Ishan Kishan is taking charge of the team.

Australia’s upcoming schedule is very busy, so there will be a lot of workload on Cummins. Australia has to play at least 20 Test matches from August to next July. These include series against Bangladesh, South Africa, New Zealand, India and England as well as the 150th anniversary match of Test cricket to be held at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
