Jharkhand News: A plan has been prepared to refurbish the beautiful Pithauria-Patratu valley on the way from Ranchi to Patratu and Ramgarh. This valley, known for its greenery, deep gorges and winding roads that talk to the clouds, will now be seen in a unique style. The enterprises and related departments associated with the Government of Jharkhand are going to start the work of beautification of the valley at a fast pace as soon as the rainy season passes. The main focal point of this entire scheme will be the traditional Sohrai painting of the state. Sohrai artworks will be carved on the open walls and prominent places of the valley, so that every tourist coming here can closely experience the rich folk culture of Jharkhand along with nature.
Jalebi Mod and the magic of beautiful valleys
Pithoria-Patratu valley is often called the paradise of Jharkhand. The Jalebi-like winding roads cutting through the mountain's chest create thrill for the drivers driving here. Dense forests all around, small waterfalls of water falling down from the hills, huge water area of Patratu Dam and groups of monkeys frolicking on the roadside make this journey memorable. Thousands of people come here during festivals and holidays. On occasions like Independence Day and New Year, due to huge crowd of tourists, sometimes there is a long traffic jam in the valley. This crowd shows how special a place this place has made in the hearts of tourists.
Sohrai art will give new identity
The Sohrai painting chosen to decorate the walls of the valley is a very ancient and rich tribal art of Jharkhand. Mainly in Hazaribagh and surrounding areas, women decorate the mud walls of their houses with this art after the harvest of paddy and on festivals related to cattle. In this, animals, birds, plants and geometric shapes are created very beautifully using clay, charcoal and natural colors. In the year 2020, Sohrai painting has also received Geographical Indication i.e. GI tag. After Ranchi Airport, Railway Stations and many government buildings, now when this art will be seen in the open fields, the look of the entire area will change.
Local people will get employment opportunities
This beautification initiative is not limited to just brightening the valley, but it will also provide new energy to the local economy. Due to painting work in the valley, local artists and rural women will get direct work. Apart from this, when the valley becomes more attractive and organized, the number of tourists here will increase further. The increasing number of tourists will boost the business of small shopkeepers, dhaba operators, big hotels and resorts in the area. This will open new avenues of self-employment and livelihood for the local youth, which will make overall economic development of the area possible.
Attention will also have to be paid to safety and cleanliness
Along with making the valley beautiful, it is very important to pay attention to basic facilities and security here. Various sections of the society, businessmen and social workers believe that mere painting will not complete the work. The government and administration should install strong railings at dangerous turns of the valley, make view points safe and make adequate arrangements for dustbins in the entire area. There should be better arrangements for clean water, lighting and public toilets for tourists. Only with a solid system of regular maintenance will this new beauty of the valley remain intact for a long time.
After the rains, when the hills are at their greenest, the natural colors of Sohrai will give a magical look to this valley. This effort will work to take Patratu Valley to a new position on the tourism map of Jharkhand.
