‘Peddi’ continues to dominate the box office, Ram Charan’s film reaches the threshold of Rs 200 crore club; ‘If youth is there then love has to happen’ and the pace of ‘monkey’ slowed down
New Delhi . An interesting competition is currently being seen between South and Bollywood films in theaters across the country. While on one hand the film ‘Peddi’ starring Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor is continuously performing well, on the other hand the recently released Bollywood films ‘Hai Jawaani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’ and ‘Bandar’ seem to be struggling to maintain the expected pace. The latest box office figures have once again highlighted the changing preferences of audiences and the impact of content-based films.
In the first week of its release, ‘Peddi’ has made a strong hold at the ticket window. The film is continuously receiving positive response from the audience, whose direct impact is visible on its earnings. On the seventh day, the film made a business of Rs 7.55 crore. Although this figure is slightly less than the previous day, even in the middle of the week, industry experts are considering this level of earnings as a positive sign. With this, the total domestic collection of the film has reached Rs 187.25 crore and now it is just a short distance away from the important figure of Rs 200 crore.
Its grand production, presence of big star actors and interest of the wide audience are being considered important in the success of the film. The film is getting good response especially in South Indian states as well as Hindi speaking areas. This is the reason why its earnings remain stable even after a week of release.
On the other hand, Varun Dhawan, Mrunal Thakur and Pooja Hegde’s film ‘Hai Jawaani To Ishq Hona Hai’ seems to be slowing down after performing well in the initial days. On the sixth day, the film made a business of Rs 2.80 crore, which is less than the previous day’s earnings. The total collection of the film has reached Rs 34.15 crore. This romantic-comedy genre film has received some support from the family audience, but its pace at the box office seems to be continuously decreasing.
Experts associated with the film industry believe that if there is not a significant jump in the film’s earnings in the coming weekend, then it may be challenging for it to establish a strong position in the long run. However, the popularity of the film’s cast and light-hearted entertainment style is creating some positive atmosphere in its favor.
Whereas the film ‘Bandar’ starring actor Bobby Deol and filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has not performed as expected at the box office. The film earned only Rs 25 lakh on the sixth day of release. With this its total collection has reached Rs 3.40 crore. The film has received limited audience support since its inception, the impact of which is clearly visible on its commercial performance.
Overall, at present the box office picture is clearly in favor of ‘Peddi’. The film is fast moving towards the Rs 200 crore club, while ‘Hai Jawaani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’ is trying to maintain its hold. At the same time, the coming days are considered very important for ‘Monkey’ from business point of view. Experts associated with the film business are now keeping an eye on the figures of the upcoming weekend, which can decide the future direction of these three films.
