Petition against Saurav Das in Madras High Court, demand to check identity and citizenship

A new and unique case seems to be gaining momentum in the political and legal circles of the country. A public interest litigation (PIL) has been filed in the Madras High Court against Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) national spokesperson and journalist Saurav Das. In this petition, a detailed investigation has been demanded into the real identity, citizenship, information of parents and his entire background of Saurav Das. After the initial hearing of the case, Madras High Court has issued a notice to the Central Government, concerned authorities and social media platforms seeking answers in this regard. What are the serious allegations made in the PIL? In this petition filed by Ganesh Kumar in Madras High Court, it has been claimed that many important questions arise regarding the identity and nationality of Saurav Das. The petitioner argues that there should be a thorough investigation into the past record and lineage of this person who has allegedly made objectionable and misleading comments against the judiciary and constitutional institutions. The petition also demands that if the investigation finds any fraud or irregularities in their claims or documents, their Aadhaar cards, passports and other government documents should be canceled with immediate effect. The petitioner has not limited his demand only to the background check, but has also appealed to the court to block the social media accounts (X and Instagram) of Saurav Das in view of his alleged derogatory comments against the judiciary and the judges of the Supreme Court of India. The petition states that he should be prevented from making controversial and misleading statements against the Judiciary on any public or digital platform. In view of the sensitivity of the matter, the court has directed the parties concerned to file replies within six weeks. Sharp reaction from CJP and Ashutosh Ranka After the High Court issued notice and this petition came to light, a sharp reaction has also come from within the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP). CJP leader Ashutosh Ranka posted on social media platform X and termed it an act of harassment. He wrote that targeting a person's family, citizenship and background on the basis of disagreement with his work or views is completely shameful. He raised the question that for how long will such tactics continue to be used against the expression of ideas in a democracy. What will be the next legal step in the case? After the notice was issued by the Madras High Court, now all eyes are on the response of the Central Government, Home Ministry and social media companies. The replies to be filed in the court within six weeks will make it clear whether the investigating agencies will investigate the documents and background of Saurav Das or the court will reject this petition. At present this issue has become the main center of discussion in the legal debate as well as in the political and social media space.
