Cost of petrol and diesel will reduce, Nitin Gadkari’s big plan, will India run on 100% ethanol?

Nitin Gadkari Statement: Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has given a big statement saying that India should aim for 100% ethanol blending in the coming times. He believes that due to the ongoing crisis in West Asia, the threat to oil supply is increasing, due to which it has become very important for the country to become self-sufficient in energy.

Why is it important to move towards ethanol?

Gadkari said that India imports about 87% of its total oil requirement. This increases the economic burden on the country and also causes pollution. Every year India imports petrol and diesel worth about Rs 22 lakh crore. In such a situation, if the use of alternative fuels like ethanol and biofuel increases, not only will the expenses reduce but the environment will also benefit.

Big success achieved with E20 petrol

Gadkari said that in the year 2023, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched E20 i.e. 20% ethanol mixed petrol. Currently, most of the vehicles in India can easily run on this fuel with little modification and it does not cause any harm to the engine. He said countries like Brazil have already reached 100% ethanol blending, and India should also move in the same direction.

Benefits of electric and flex-fuel vehicles will increase

According to Nitin Gadkari, the CAFE III rules coming into effect from April 1 will have less impact on electric and flex-fuel vehicles. This means that these vehicles may become more profitable and popular in the future.

Green Hydrogen: Fuel of the Future

Regarding green hydrogen, Gadkari said that it is the fuel of the future, but its cost is still very high. If India has to become an energy exporter, then the price of hydrogen will have to be brought down to $ 1 per kg. He also suggested that focus should be on making hydrogen from waste, which will provide energy as well as increase employment opportunities and promote circular economy.

What are the concerns about E20?

Nitin Gadkari agreed that it is necessary to reduce the use of petrol and diesel vehicles, but people cannot be forcibly removed from them. On the concerns being raised on social media regarding E20, he said that the petroleum sector is lobbying against this change.

Special message for auto companies

Gadkari appealed to auto companies to focus on quality instead of reducing costs, so that they can easily enter new markets.

India’s fuel future is about to change

If India moves towards 100% ethanol blending, it can prove to be a big change for the country where dependence on petrol and diesel will reduce and the environment will also get relief.
