Toyota's 100% ethanol car will be launched in October
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari recently made a big revelation during an event and said that he has been called for the launch of Toyota's Innova flex-fuel car in October this year. This is not an ordinary car, but it has been specially designed to run entirely on 100 percent ethanol instead of petrol. Gadkari has also claimed that this luxurious car will generate up to 60 percent electricity on its own while moving on the road. According to the report of 'Business Today', Gadkari says that ethanol is already being used extensively in 19 countries of the world and in India too, there are no complaints of any kind regarding vehicles running on ethanol.
What is the government's stance regarding the health of E20 petrol and engines?
Nowadays in India, there is a discussion among the common people and even in the Parliament about E20 petrol (a mixture of 20% ethanol in petrol) that it is having a negative impact on the fuel efficiency (mileage) of vehicles and engine performance. However, the government has completely rejected this. The government clearly says that it has not received any major or confirmed complaint from automobile companies, vehicle manufacturers' associations or any consumer group regarding the mileage, engine health or maintenance cost of E20. The government has also cited several lab studies and field trials conducted on the strength and material compatibility of the engine to support its claims.
Flex-fuel vehicles have already arrived in India

Earlier in the month of June, Maruti Suzuki had also launched the country's first flex-fuel passenger car in the market. Along with promoting the use of ethanol, Nitin Gadkari has also laid special emphasis on maximum use of bike taxi service in the country. He believes that App-based platforms can provide an excellent additional source of income to the country's two-wheeler owners without any huge new investment. He has appealed to the Transport Ministers of all the states of the country to open this option for those unemployed youth in villages and small towns who already have two-wheelers. He firmly believes that if this model is strictly adopted across the country, it will open new avenues of employment for crores of youth of the country.
Ethanol is making farmers an 'energy provider'
Even during the launching program of a new public bus service in Madhya Pradesh, Gadkari had openly expressed his views about the farmers and environment of the country. He had said that the increasing production of ethanol in the country is making our farmers not only 'food givers' but also 'energy givers'. He also specifically mentioned the increase in the prices of maize after ethanol produced from crops like sugarcane and maize. He is continuously advocating the promotion of flex-fuel, electric and hydrogen vehicles as cheap and clean alternatives to petrol and diesel in the country.
