Why Do Fuel Prices Differ Across Cities?
Petrol and diesel rates differ across India mainly because of variations in state VAT, local taxes, transportation costs and other applicable charges. As a result, motorists in different cities may pay different amounts for the same quantity of fuel.
International crude oil prices and currency movements can also influence fuel costs, although changes in global markets do not necessarily lead to immediate changes in retail prices.
How to Check the Latest Fuel Rates
Consumers can check the current petrol and diesel prices through their fuel company’s official website or mobile app before visiting a petrol pump. Since rates may differ by location, checking the local price is advisable before refuelling.
