PF Withdrawal : Employees Provident Fund (EPF) is an important source of long term savings for crores of working employees. However, while claiming online to withdraw money from this account at the time of need EPFO Inaccurate or inconsistent information in records can be problematic. So it is useful to check the important details of UAN account before filing the claim.
1. Aadhaar Information: Check if Aadhaar linked with UAN and personal details in EPFO records are correct. Pay particular attention to details such as name and date of birth.
2. PAN Details: Check whether the PAN number recorded in the UAN is correct and the name on it is consistent with the EPFO records.
3. Bank Account and IFSC: It is very important that the account number and IFSC of the account in which the PF amount is to be deposited is correct. Also ensure that the relevant bank account is functional.

4. Name: If there is a discrepancy in the spelling of the name between EPFO, Aadhaar and PAN it would be advisable to correct it first.
5. Date of Birth: Check whether the date of birth recorded in the UAN is correct. This is an important detail in terms of member identity and EPFO records.
6. Dates of Employment: Also check whether Date of Joining and Date of Exit are recorded correctly.
Now profile editing is easy
EPFO simplified the process of correcting information in members' profiles in January 2025. Members who already have UAN verified through Aadhaar can manually update many details like name, date of birth, gender, nationality, parent's name, marital status as well as date of joining and leaving employment in eligible cases. However, some UAN cases received before 1 October 2017 may require employer verification.
In April 2025, EPFO made another important change. Requirement of employer's approval after verification by bank to link bank account details with UAN removed. Also, the condition of uploading a copy of check or attested bank passbook while claiming online has also been removed.
Do not give OTP and UAN password to anyone
PF Special precautions are required when taking the help of an agent or a stranger for removal. EPFO itself warns members not to share UAN, password, PAN, Aadhaar, bank account details or OTP with anyone. The official portal also clarified that EPFO does not ask for such sensitive information over phone, message or social media.
So instead of rushing to withdraw PF, it may be worthwhile to take a few minutes to check all the information before filing a claim. If any mistake is found in the details then it is advisable to correct it first and then file online claim.
