Pierce Brosnan and wife Keely Shaye Smith are preparing to leave their Malibu mansion.
The couple’s decision comes after repeatedly seeing the area threatened by wildfires.
“We’ve been spared by the fires a few times now. But I think it’s time to move,” he told The Times.
“Everything changes; everything falls apart.”
The actor also spoke about the unease that comes with living in an area vulnerable to both wildfires and earthquakes.
“We live by this body of earth’s water on a fault in a ring of earthquakes. That creates a fear,” he said.
The 73-year-old also described the couple’s relatively secluded lifestyle in Malibu, saying they have a small circle of friends in the area but have watched people come and go over the years.
Malibu was among the areas severely affected by the devastating wildfires in January 2025, with several high-profile residents losing their homes.
Stars including Jeff Bridges, Mel Gibson and Paris Hilton were among those whose properties were destroyed.
Beyond the wildfire threat, the former James Bond also acknowledged the considerable financial burden of maintaining his Malibu mansion.
