New Delhi. A grand piping ceremony was held on Friday at the Adarsh Auditorium at Delhi Police Headquarters. On this occasion, 202 police officers and employees were awarded honorary promotions to the next higher rank on their retirement day in recognition of their outstanding and dedicated service. Delhi Police Commissioner Anurag Kumar (IPS) presided over the ceremony. He, along with senior officers, honored retired police officers, ranging from constable to sub-inspector, by pinning the badges of their next higher rank on them.
In his address, Police Commissioner Anurag Kumar extended his best wishes to all the retired police officers and their families and said that their contribution to the service of Delhi Police and the nation will always be remembered. He said that police service is a highly challenging and responsible job, where each day presents new situations and difficult challenges.
Despite this, these officers and employees discharged their duties with honesty, dedication, efficiency, and devotion throughout their service. He noted that due to their duties, police officers often lack adequate time for their families. In such a situation, the support, patience, and sacrifice of their families are equally important. The Police Commissioner expressed special gratitude to all the family members, saying that without their support, the police personnel could not have successfully discharged their duties.
The Police Commissioner told the retired officers and employees that they would now have the opportunity to fulfill their dreams, interests, and personal aspirations that could not be fulfilled due to lack of time during their busy service. He assured them that even after retirement, they would remain an integral part of the Delhi Police family and that the organization would stand by them to provide all possible support whenever needed.
A total of 202 police personnel were awarded honorary promotions during the ceremony. These included seven officers and employees from Head Constable to Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI), 37 from Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) to Sub-Inspector (SI), and 158 officers and employees from Sub-Inspector (SI) to Inspector (Inspector). The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks by Joint Commissioner of Police (Headquarters) Suman Goyal (IPS). Several senior Delhi Police officers, honored retired police officers, and their families were present on the occasion. Filled with honor and pride, the ceremony became memorable for all.
