Under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, women get a total of Rs 5,000 when they become pregnant for the first time. Its first installment (Rs 3,000) is given at the time of registration of pregnancy and the second installment (Rs 2,000) is given at the time of registration of the birth of the child.
PMMVY Scheme: Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) is a beneficial scheme of the Central Government, which was started in 2010 and was given its current name in 2017. The main objective of this scheme is to provide financial help to pregnant women and lactating mothers, so that they can take better care of their eating habits. Through this, women are made aware of health and efforts are made to create a positive attitude in the society regarding the birth of daughters.
Government gives 5 thousand rupees to pregnant women
Under this scheme, when a woman becomes a mother for the first time, the government gives her financial assistance of Rs 5000. Whereas if a daughter is born as the second child, then the woman gets additional assistance of Rs 6000. The main objective of this money is that both mother and child can get good and nutritious food, so that their health remains good.
What is PMMVY scheme?

This entire amount is deposited directly into the bank or post office account linked to the beneficiary’s Aadhaar through ‘Direct Benefit Transfer’ (DBT).
Which women will get the benefit of this scheme?
To avail the benefits of this scheme, the age of the woman should be at least 19 years and the annual income of the family should not exceed Rs 8 lakh. If you have MNREGA card, e-Shram card, BPL card and you are disabled or are taking the benefit of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, then you are eligible for this. Keep in mind that it is necessary to apply within 270 days of the birth of the child, otherwise you will not be able to avail the benefit of this financial assistance.

How to apply?
- You can fill the form yourself by visiting its official website pmmvy.wcd.gov.in.
- Documents like Aadhar Card, Bank Passbook and MCP Card will have to be uploaded at the time of application.
- You can also submit the form by visiting your nearest Anganwadi center or government health center.
- Forms 1A, 1B and 1C are used for different installments.
