New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday reached Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) of Delhi University after almost 13 years. The special thing was that PM Modi traveled by metro to reach the college. During this, he also interacted with the children and passengers present in the metro. Prime Minister addressed Gen-Z at the centenary celebrations of SRCC marking 100 years.
SRCC Alumni described as 'OG'
Addressing the program, PM Modi said that SRCC alumni have made their mark in different areas of the country and the world. Using the language of Gen-Z, he said, “The alumni here are OG, i.e. Original Gangsters.”
He said that people associated with SRCC have brought the name of the college across the world. The Prime Minister also mentioned former Union Minister Arun Jaitley and said that he had also been a student of SRCC.
PM Modi remembered the 2013 speech
Recalling his 2013 SRCC visit, PM Modi said that the event was being discussed for the last few days. He said that the new generation has also seen his old address again and its impact remains intact even after about 13-14 years.
He said, “I was the Chief Minister of Gujarat then and was in the opposition party. People expected that I would blame the central government, but I did not do that. I had put forth my vision from that platform.”

PM Modi said, in 2013, growth was at the floor and inflation was at its peak. Scams were at their peak, the corrupt roamed around without fear. The economy was in bad shape, there was talk of policy paralysis everywhere. The world was counting India as a fragile file, terrorists were unbridled, and Pakistan was uncontrollable. That means then there was nothing but disappointment and frustration.
100 rupee coin released on completion of 100 years
Prime Minister Modi released a commemorative coin of Rs 100 at the beginning of the centenary celebrations of SRCC. Earlier in April this year, he had also released a postal stamp in the honor of the college.
SRCC was established in 1926
Famous industrialist and social worker Sir Shri Ram had established this institute in the year 1926. In its journey of over a century, SRCC has given the country generations of academicians, entrepreneurs, administrators, policy-makers and professionals. PM Modi said that any institution that completes 100 years becomes an ocean not only of experiences but also of achievements.
