Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on a two-day visit to Australia, addressed about 30 thousand people of Indian origin in the ‘Melbourne Meets Modi’ program organized in Melbourne. In his speech, he spoke in detail on many important issues like India-Australia relations, Operation Sindoor, India’s growing global power, DigiLocker, 5G-6G technology, Make in India, Bhajan Clubbing, Indian culture and vision of developed India.
The Prime Minister started his address by thanking the Indian community and said that the biggest contribution behind India’s growing prestige in Australia is from overseas Indians. With this, do you understand what PM Modi said from the five videos going viral on social?
‘I came to Australia for the third time in 12 years, I got a hat-trick’
PM Modi said that when he came to Australia for the first time in 2014, it was the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister after 28 years. At that time he had said that there would be no need to wait 28 years for the next journey. He said smilingly that now I have come to Australia for the third time in 12 years. That means my hat-trick has been done. He said that the biggest credit for the heights at which relations between India and Australia have reached goes to the Indian community living here.
‘Melbourne won hearts today’
Seeing the crowd gathered in Melbourne, the Prime Minister said that the program was completely houseful. He also thanked Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and said that he is a true friend of India. He said that from the world’s largest cricket stadium in Ahmedabad to the Melbourne Cricket Ground, the friendship between the two countries has continuously strengthened.
Many big agreements between India and Australia
Bilateral talks were held between Prime Minister Modi and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese in Melbourne. After this, both the leaders announced to increase cooperation in many areas including defence, trade, energy, space, education and critical minerals.

- The supply of uranium to India from Australia will increase.
- Both the countries will jointly develop Critical Minerals Corridor.
- Space tracking terminal will be established on Cocos (Keeling) Island.
- This will provide technical support to India’s Gaganyaan Mission.
- Cooperation will also increase in the field of education and research.
The Prime Minister said that India and Australia are natural partners for each other in clean energy and future technologies. Australian universities are now coming to India. Referring to the education sector, the Prime Minister said that thousands of Indian students are studying in Australia. He said that now the picture is changing. Australia’s prestigious Deakin University and Wollongong University have started their campuses in India and many other universities are also moving in this direction. According to him, this is a proof of India’s growing educational potential and global trust.
India does not check passport while helping
In the most emotional part of his speech, Prime Minister Modi said that India’s humanitarian approach is different from the rest of the world. He said that ‘when India helps someone, it does not look at which country the person’s passport belongs to and what is its colour.’ He said that during the recent devastating earthquake in Venezuela, India immediately sent relief material, experts and medical teams, due to which many lives could be saved.
He reminded that India immediately launched relief operations when earthquakes occurred in Turkey and Syria. Aid was delivered to Myanmar under Operation Brahma. During the cyclone in Sri Lanka, help was provided through Operation Sagar Bandhu. He said that this is the reason why the whole world trusts India.
Mention of Operation Sindoor, gave strict message on terrorism
Prime Minister Modi also mentioned the recent Operation Sindoor in his speech. He said that today the whole world is seeing the capability and reliability of India’s defense platform. During Operation Sindoor, there were explosions at terrorist hideouts, but the whole world heard its echo. He asked the Indian community – did that action against terrorism make you feel proud or not? Thousands of people present in the meeting welcomed him with applause.
Make in India has now become a global brand
- The Prime Minister said that in the last 12 years, Make in India has not been just a government scheme, but has also become India’s identity in the whole world.

- Referring to India’s achievements in the field of technology, the Prime Minister said that today India has become the second largest 5G market in the world.
He told that India is working rapidly on indigenous 6G technology. The country’s metro network has reached more than two dozen cities. About 1.25 crore people travel by metro every day. India has the third largest metro network in the world. Modern rail projects like Namo Bharat Rapid Rail and Vande Bharat are becoming the new identity of the country. DigiLocker changed the government system. While discussing Digital India, the Prime Minister said that till a few years ago, attestation of documents had to be done for every government work. He said that people had to stand in queues for hours just to prove their identity.
Today the situation has completely changed.
He told that most of the work is now done through self-attestation. Citizens can keep their documents safe in DigiLocker. Documents can be shared, verified and approved in one click. He said that creating a secure and reliable digital system for crores of people is a big achievement of India.
The trend of ‘Bhajan Clubbing’ is increasing in Gen Z.
Referring to the youth, Prime Minister Modi said that the new generation of India is not moving away from spirituality, but is adopting it in a new form. He said that ‘Today a new trend of ‘Bhajan Clubbing’ is being seen among Gen Z in India.’ He also praised the Indians living in Australia and said that the weekend here is not only dedicated to entertainment but also to culture and spiritual activities.
