PM Modi in Ladakh Rs. India and abroad will inaugurate and dedicate 5 development projects worth more than Rs 3,350 crore to the nation – REVOI

New Delhi, 14 October 2026: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Ladakh on October 15, 2026 at approximately 12:30 pm through video conferencing. Will inaugurate and dedicate to the nation five major development projects worth more than Rs 3,350 crore. He will also address the public present on this occasion. These five projects will strengthen connectivity, improve energy infrastructure, conserve cultural heritage and enhance water security in the region.

Prime Minister Lehna Kushok Bakula Rinpoche Airport at Rs. Pamela will inaugurate the new passenger terminal building constructed at a cost of Rs 640 crore. This modern terminal spread over 23,800 square meters has been designed to handle 35 lakh passengers annually. By incorporating geothermal energy to increase its energy efficiency and reduce its carbon footprint, the facility reflects the importance of sustainable infrastructure in the environmentally sensitive environment of Ladakh. By blending modern passenger amenities with elements of Ladakhi's rich cultural heritage, this terminal will improve passenger amenities and strengthen air connectivity with the rest of the country.

The Prime Minister will dedicate to the nation the 298 km long Nimmu-Padam-Darcha road constructed by the Border Roads Organization (BRO). Connecting Lehna with Darcha in Himachal Pradesh's Nimmune via the remote Zanskar valley, this road provides an alternative connectivity corridor to Ladakh to complement the Srinagar-Leh and Manali-Leh highways. Passing through challenging Himalayan terrain, including the extremely high altitude Shinkun La Pass, the route represents a remarkable engineering feat. Its strategic importance lies in increasing operational mobility and strengthening logistical support to the armed forces. It will also benefit the residents of Zanskar by improving access to health care, education, markets and essential services.

As part of efforts to strengthen energy security and harness the renewable energy potential of Ladakh, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the 9 MW Hanu Small Hydroelectric Project and 66 KV double-circuit Dah-Hanu-Khaltsi Transmission Line. These projects will strengthen the power generation infrastructure and improve the reliability of Ladakh's power network. They represent an important step towards harnessing the region's hydropower resources and strengthening its energy infrastructure.

Recognizing the importance of preserving the ancient archaeological heritage of Ladakh, the Prime Minister will inaugurate India's first Petroglyph Conservation Park at Indus Ghats, Leh. Ladakh is home to hundreds of prehistoric rock art sites that include carvings of wildlife, human figures and symbolic representations that provide valuable insight into thousands of years of human history. These petroglyphs are a unique record of the region's cultural and civil past. The Conservation Park will provide a dedicated space to protect these sensitive archaeological remains, raise public awareness and encourage responsible heritage tourism.

The Prime Minister will also inaugurate 40 reservoirs developed in 40 villages under 'Project Him Sarovar', an initiative launched with the aim of meeting the unique geographical and climatic challenges of Ladakh through water conservation in line with the objectives of Mission Amrit Sarovar. Agriculture in Ladakh faces seasonal imbalance between water availability and demand. Despite significant water resources being available during other seasons due to snowmelt and glacier runoff, farmers frequently experience water shortages during the critical harvesting season. Project Him Sarovar seeks to meet this challenge by preserving water when it is available and ensuring its availability when it is needed, thereby supporting irrigation, sustaining agricultural livelihoods and strengthening long-term water security in the region.
