PM Modi inaugurated the 10th edition of India Mobile Congress

New Delhi, 08 October 2026: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated the tenth edition of 'India Mobile Congress' at Yashobhoomi in New Delhi. The program showcases India's significant progress in telecommunication, digital connectivity and technological innovation. This four-day conference started yesterday. This year's theme is 'Expanding Beyond Boundaries', which highlights India's growing capabilities in digital innovation, next generation connectivity and technology-led development.

Addressing on this occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said that on the platform of 'India Mobile Congress' we have witnessed the development of telecommunication sector and digital connectivity in India. He said that this platform has played an important role in the progress of India's telecom sector. Modi noted that over the years, it has emerged as a platform that showcases India's progress and aspirations. The Prime Minister had said that today 5G connectivity has reached every district of the country. Shri Modi said that India currently has more than 5,50,000 base stations for 5G connectivity operations.

Prime Minister Modi had said that due to digital connectivity it has become easier to provide education, healthcare and government services to the people. He noted that today every child living in remote villages and poor families can get quality knowledge. Modi had mentioned that in the last ten-twelve years, mobile phones have transformed from being just a means of modern communication to becoming an important tool for good governance. He added that now hundreds of government services are available on mobile phones. The Prime Minister had said that the people of the country have benefited from the revolution in the telecommunication sector. Modi said that approximately Rs 50 lakh crore has been deposited directly into the bank accounts of the beneficiaries through 'Direct Benefit Transfer'. He added that this step has resulted in savings of about Rs 5 lakh crore.

Prime Minister Modi had said that the government is making efforts to connect about 25 crore students with various digital and online education platforms. Highlighting the growing importance of digital education in India through the 'DIKSHA' platform, he mentioned that during the Covid-19 pandemic, more than five crore sessions were conducted through DIKSHA.

Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia had said that Prime Minister Modi has continuously emphasized that technology should not only reach the interior villages but should reach every citizen. He had remarked that widespread acceptance of technology is possible only when it is veiled and all-inclusive. Scindia had noted that in 2014, the price of one gigabyte of data was Rs 268, which has now come down to only Rs 8. With this, India has come into the league of countries providing data at the lowest rates in the world.

Scindia praised equipment manufacturers, telecom operators and all telecom sector professionals for making 5G the fastest-adopting technology worldwide. He mentioned that India currently has 55 crore 5G customers. He added that 'India Mobile Congress 2026' will showcase India's capabilities.

The event brings together technology leaders, policymakers, industry experts, startups, investors and innovators from across the world on one platform. Its objective is to discuss and explore the opportunities emerging in the digital ecosystem. This time, 'India Mobile Congress' is expanding its scope by including four new areas. This includes smart mobility, stadium experiences, industrial robotics and transportation technology. More than 1,50,000 participants from more than 100 countries, more than 500 partners and exhibitors and 600 startups are participating in this event.
