Prime Minister Narendra Modi responded to the incident at Jantar Mantar in a video message shared on his official Instagram account on Friday night, saying that the use of abusive language is unacceptable in any civilized society. He said that offensive comments were made against him and his late mother in the incident, but he favors guiding the young people involved rather than punishing them.
Concerns raised over hate speech
PM Modi said that the entire country and the world witnessed what happened at Jantar Mantar. He said that some “mischievous children” used extremely vulgar and uncivilized language, which is unbecoming of any civilized society. He said that the incident was tragic, but he wanted to address the issue with a positive mindset and a spirit of reform rather than bitterness.

” There should be an opportunity to correct mistakes.”
He said that it’s natural to make mistakes in childhood, and that this age provides an opportunity to learn from them and correct them. He said he understands the outrage in society over this incident. He said it’s a “cultural shock” that the daughters of our country could use such language.
” It is our responsibility to guide misguided children in the right direction.”
PM Modi said it’s time to embrace these young people and show them the right path. He said these are misguided children and it’s the entire society’s responsibility to guide them. According to him, punishing them, making them run around the courts, or socially harassing them is not the solution to the problem.
‘ I want to forgive them’
The Prime Minister said he wanted to forgive the young people involved and appealed to society to accept their sentiments. Citing the example of sometimes the tongue gets caught between the teeth and even bleeds, he said no one breaks their own teeth because the teeth are their own and the tongue is their own. Similarly, children are also a part of society.
Youth urged to join nation building
PM Modi called on young people to learn from their mistakes and participate in the nation’s development. He stated that the country is progressing rapidly and he wishes for a bright future for the youth. He appealed to all citizens, especially the youth, to unite and contribute to nation-building and move forward in a positive direction.
