The reason for this has been revealed. Fuel economy is no longer just an environmental issue but is also linked to the country’s economic strength. Widespread use of ‘work from home’ during covid

In India, the ‘work from home’ option has emerged for the first time during the Covid-19 pandemic. Companies in many sectors including IT, media, banking, consulting had allowed employees to work from home. This reduced the number of people going to the office, reducing the number of vehicles on the roads automatically reduced the traffic. During this period, the consumption of petrol and diesel also decreased. Alternatively, a significant reduction in pollution levels was also observed.

After a period of five-six years now it is being reported that the government is once again discussing adopting a ‘work from home’ or hybrid model in a limited form. One of the biggest benefits of working from home or a hybrid approach is fuel savings. Due to ‘work from home’ employees will have to use less petrol and diesel for their daily commute. This can reduce traffic jams and stress on public transport. Apart from this, it will also help in reducing the level of pollution in the cities.

Benefits of working from home

Working from home saves employees time in their daily commute. They can use this time for family or other important work. Companies can also reduce office expenses, electricity and other facilities.

However, ‘work from home’ is not possible in every field. Manufacturing, transportation, retail, hospitals and other physical service sectors require physical presence of employees. However, India’s digital economy offers jobs on a large scale, which can easily be run in a hybrid or remote model.

According to experts, if the central government implements schemes like the ‘Green Work Policy’ in collaboration with the states to incentivize companies, India can significantly reduce the cost of oil imports. This will help reduce the financial pressure on the country and may also strengthen the rupee.
