Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who reached Australia on Wednesday night after completing his three-day visit to Indonesia, expressed his gratitude for the grand welcome given by the Indian community in Melbourne. ‘Appreciation of the presentation of ‘Maa Tujhe Salaam’
The Prime Minister also praised ‘Maa Tujhe Salaam’ performed by the Australian-India Orchestra. He said that the presentation beautifully showcased the role of music in further strengthening the cultural ties between the people of the two countries. He also said that this performance on the occasion of 150 years of ‘Vande Mataram’ in India reflects the global popularity of the song.

PM Modi also praised the joint presentation of Australia’s traditional musical instrument Didgeridoo and India’s Tabla. He described it as a symbol of the deep cultural bond between India and Australia. Apart from this, praising the Kathak presentation of local artists, he said that he was happy to see the increasing popularity of Indian classical dance in Australia.

Earlier, PM Modi, who reached Melbourne on a three-day visit at the invitation of Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, said that his visit will give new impetus to the India-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

PM Modi will hold bilateral talks with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese on Thursday. The two leaders are likely to discuss a number of important issues including trade, defence, critical technology, education and further strengthening people-to-people ties.

Before PM Modi’s visit, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese described India as an important economic partner and talked about the growing strategic importance of bilateral relations. In a statement issued earlier this week, Australia’s Prime Minister’s Office said that as the world’s fourth largest and fastest growing economy, India is an important economic partner for Australia.
