IND vs ENG: Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s bat again did not work in front of Joffra Archer, Team India scattered in powerplay
Digital Desk: A big innings was expected from young batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi in the third T20 International played against England at Trent Bridge, but he could not play a long innings this time too. The 15-year-old batsman hit some aggressive shots in the beginning, but could not last long against the pace and strategy of England fast bowler Joffra Archer. Vaibhav was caught out by wicketkeeper Jos Buttler after scoring 13 runs.
Archer hatched a strategy to get him out with a bouncer.
Vaibhav had earlier scored 14 runs in the T20 match played in Manchester, whereas in this match he could add only 13 runs. His innings was ended by his Rajasthan Royals teammate Joffra Archer in the IPL.
Archer bowled a bouncer at a speed of 144 kmph in his first spell, on which Vaibhav could not play the pull shot. The next short ball got a thick edge of the bat and the ball went over third man for a six. After this he also scored a four and a run on the balls of Josh Tong.
However, in the third over, Archer bowled an accurate bouncer towards the leg stump. Vaibhav then tried to play a pull shot, but the ball took the edge of the gloves and went into the hands of wicketkeeper Jos Buttler.
Indian batting faltered in the powerplay.
India had a very bad start. Before Vaibhav was out, Josh Tong sent Abhishek Sharma to the pavilion. After this he also took the wicket of Ishan Kishan.
On the other hand, Joffra Archer added to India’s troubles by dismissing captain Shreyas Iyer and Axar Patel in the same over. Within just five overs, the Indian team’s score became five wickets for 52 runs.
Will Jacques gave only two runs in the last over of the powerplay. At the end of six overs, India’s score was 54/5.
Unwanted record registered in the name of India
In this match, the Indian team made a record in its name, which it would hardly want to remember. This is the first time in T20 International cricket that India lost its first five wickets in the powerplay.
