Sweden honored PM Modi with highest honour, 31st international honor recorded in Prime Minister’s account

PM Modi Sweden Royal Order of Polar Star: Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Gothenburg, Sweden on Sunday, May 17, in the second leg of his four-nation European tour. The welcome that PM Modi received as soon as he stepped on Swedish soil has created a new history, as soon as the Prime Minister’s plane entered Sweden’s airspace, Gripen fighter planes of the Swedish Air Force surrounded his plane from all sides and, providing a security cordon, brought him respectfully to Gothenburg Airport.

Usually the Prime Minister of any country does not go to the airport to receive the visiting leader, but in view of the strong relations with India, Sweden gave this special honour. During this visit, PM Modi was awarded Sweden’s highest state honor ‘Royal Order of Polar Star, Commander Grand Cross’ Was honored with. The honor is Sweden’s highest award given to a head of a foreign government. This award has been given to strengthen bilateral relations between India and Sweden and promote global cooperation. It is noteworthy that this is the 31st international honor to be registered in the name of Prime Minister Modi, which is like a global record.

Grand brainstorming session on trade, defense and AI

Many strategic issues were agreed upon in the bilateral talks between Prime Minister Modi and his counterpart Ulf Christerson. The two leaders discussed trade and investment which is expected to reach $7.75 billion by 2025. Apart from this, serious discussions were also held on topics like green energy, AI, space research, cooperation in defense industry and strengthening supply chains.

PM Modi Also met the Indian expatriates living in Sweden where a grand cultural program was organised. In this program, Swedish opera singer Charlotte Huld sang the famous bhajan ‘Vaishnav Jan To’ He mesmerized everyone by singing.

At the same time, the presentations of Bharatanatyam and Bengali culture left an indelible impression of India’s cultural diversity in Sweden. PM Modi himself expressed his gratitude to the host country by writing in Swedish on social media and described this visit as a new beginning in the field of innovation and defense.
