PM Modi Visit: PM Modi leaves for Sweden after concluding his visit to Netherlands, signed 17 agreements

The Hague. Prime Minister Narendra Modi left for Sweden on Sunday after concluding his two-day visit to Netherlands. During his visit to Netherlands, he signed 17 agreements to enhance cooperation in defence, critical minerals and other key sectors.

During the visit, Modi held bilateral talks with his Dutch counterpart Rob Jetten on Saturday. The two leaders expressed concern over the situation in West Asia (particularly the disruption in global energy supply and trade networks with serious implications for the region and the world as a whole).

PM Modi said in a post on social media, “My visit to the Netherlands has given new momentum to India-Netherlands relations. From elevating our relationship to the level of a strategic partnership to enhancing cooperation in water resources, semiconductors, innovation, defence, sustainability and mobility, we have created an ambitious roadmap for the future.”

“I would like to thank Prime Minister Rob Jetten for his warm hospitality and for coming to the airport to bid me farewell in person,” he said. I am confident that the friendship between India and the Netherlands will strengthen further in the years to come.” Ahead of the bilateral talks, Prime Minister Modi along with Jeten interacted with the Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of leading Dutch companies from various sectors such as energy, ports, health, agri-trade and technology.

PM Modi invited Dutch companies to explore opportunities in India, especially in the maritime sector, renewable energy, digital technology, semiconductor, artificial intelligence and healthcare sectors. Before leaving on Sunday, Modi along with Jeten visited the iconic ‘Afsluitdijk’ dam. India and the Netherlands are exploring deeper cooperation in water management and climate resilient infrastructure.

Modi reached The Hague on Friday on a two-day visit. The visit is part of his visit to four countries in Europe, which aims to strengthen bilateral ties in a number of important areas. In Sweden, the next stop of his Europe tour, Modi will hold talks with his Swedish counterpart Ulf Kristersson to review bilateral relations and explore new avenues of cooperation to enhance bilateral trade.

Bilateral trade with Sweden was to reach US$7.75 billion in 2025. Both sides will focus on promoting bilateral relations in areas such as climate change, artificial intelligence, emerging technologies, startups, resilient supply chains, defence, space, climate action and people-to-people ties.

PM Modi had earlier visited Sweden for the first India-Nordic summit in 2018. “The two Prime Ministers, along with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, will also address the ‘European Round Table for Industry’, a major forum of leading businessmen from across Europe,” the Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement.
