The main objective of this major initiative is to strengthen maritime security in the Indo-Pacific region and maintain the rules-based international order. Defense experts believe that this agreement will not be limited to just making defense equipment, but will give a new and aggressive direction to the cooperation between the two countries in future military technologies, research and defense industry. This will also give a huge boost to India’s mission of becoming self-reliant in the defense sector.
Grand target of 10 trillion yen, India will become the hub of global supply chain
Along with defense agreements, both the countries have played a big bet on the economic front also. Prime Minister Modi announced that India and Japan have set a big target of Japanese investment of 10 trillion yen within India in the next 10 years. Special focus will be on semiconductor, quantum technology and supply chain
During the bilateral talks, both the leaders laid special emphasis on the fact that in view of the current global circumstances and tensions, it is very important to have a strong and secure supply chain. For this reason, India and Japan have taken a big decision to increase mutual cooperation in the most important areas of the future like semiconductor, quantum technology, digital innovation and energy security. Both countries believe that this partnership in new technologies will not only increase the pace of economic development but will also give them the ability to boldly face future global challenges.
