PM Modi’s love for nature in Seychelles Botanical Garden, fed food to the world’s oldest turtle ‘Jonathan’

Victoria (Seychelles), June 27. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who arrived in Victoria on Saturday on a three-day visit to the East African country Seychelles, visited the ‘Seychelles National Botanical Garden’ with President Patrick Hermini at the beginning of his state visit.

Prime Minister Modi enthusiastically fed giant tortoises in the Botanical Garden. These included 194-year-old ‘Jonathan’, who is considered the world’s oldest living terrestrial animal. During this, PM Modi and President Harmini also planted a sapling in the garden. After this he met the employees there. The staff gave them information about the plants and wildlife of the Botanical Garden.

Earlier, PM Modi reached the capital of Seychelles in the afternoon. He will attend the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the country’s National Day as the chief guest. The purpose of this visit is also to further strengthen the cooperation and friendship between the two countries. President Patrick Harmini, several senior ministers and other senior officials themselves reached the airport to welcome Prime Minister Modi. This was a special welcome given in his honour.

Prime Minister Modi was welcomed with cultural programs at the airport. These also included a traditional dance of Kutch. PM Modi wrote on the social media platform ‘X’, ‘This is a wonderful cultural connection. Kutch dance was also seen during the welcome at the airport in Seychelles. The way our NRI community has preserved and carried forward the culture of different parts of India is commendable.

PM Modi also shared some pictures of the warm welcome he received at the airport and thanked the Indian community for their love and affection. He wrote on ‘X’, ‘I have reached Seychelles. I am deeply grateful to President Dr. Patrick Hermini for the warm welcome he extended to me at the airport. Seychelles is an important maritime partner and close friend of ours in the Indian Ocean region. I am confident that this visit will strengthen the relations between the two countries and increase cooperation in the interest of our people.
