‘PoK is not a part of Pakistan…’ People’s anger erupted against Shahbaz government; Now the demand for joining with India started rising…
A major public movement has been going on for the last 22 days in Rawalakot of Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) against the Pakistani government and the government of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif. Thousands of local people are taking to the streets to protest against Pakistan’s forcible control and repressive policies in this area. During a huge protest organized at the historic Idgah Ground in Rawalkot, the protesters and local leaders have bluntly declared that this entire area should no longer be considered under the control of Pakistan. He has also warned that if their situation does not improve, they can take steps to join India.
Refused to accept Army Chief Asim Munir, called him ‘dictator’
The protest is being led by several local leaders including civil rights activist Sardar Aman Khan. This movement became more violent when Pakistani authorities banned the supply of food items and other essential goods to this area for the last two weeks. The anger of the people can be clearly seen in the video that surfaced during the demonstration, where they have clearly refused to accept Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir as their general. People say that they will not tolerate any military dictator. Sardar Aman Khan claimed that geographically and economically Pakistan needs this area more than the people here need Pakistan.
Will seek help from India if restrictions continue: Sardar Aman Khan
A separate protest is also going on near the Line of Control (LoC) since June 9. Addressing the protesters, Sardar Aman Khan told his supporters that if the restrictions of the Pakistani administration on food and basic things continue like this, then the people here can directly turn to India for help. He made it clear that if humanitarian or political help is received from India, the political situation in the entire region will change, which will put huge international pressure on Islamabad and the Pakistani Army.
This protest is not limited to PoK only, but Kashmiri migrants living abroad have also taken this movement to the global level by protesting outside Pakistani embassies and diplomatic missions located in many countries.
