Pakistan Firing on Kashmiris: Serious concerns have emerged over the alleged firing by Pakistani security forces on peaceful protesters in the Rawalakot area of ​​Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK). The United Kashmir People’s National Party on Monday strongly condemned the incident, calling it “genocide” told.

According to UKPNP, about 7 protesters lost their lives and more than 60 people were injured in the incident that took place on Sunday night. The organization said that the use of force on peaceful and unarmed people is contrary to democratic values. The party said in the statement, ‘Peaceful protest is a democratic right. Pakistan should immediately stop this sequence of atrocities and repression against unarmed Kashmiris.”

Demand for intervention from the international community

The organization has sought the intervention of the United Nations and the international community to ensure the protection of lives and fundamental rights of the Kashmiri people. Also appealed to international media and human rights organizations to bring the ground situation of PoK in front of the world.

According to reports, Rawalakot has become the major center of protests currently spreading in PoK. The protest intensified when the administration started action against activists associated with the Jammu and Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee.

Internet services closed in entire PoK

It is reported that the administration has declared J&KJAAC a banned organization and the proposed “Long March” Many security arrangements have been implemented before. Leaders associated with the movement allege that internet services have also been stopped in the entire PoK since the night of June 5, due to which the communication system has been seriously affected.

Reports quoting local activists said that J&KJAAC members Shahzeb Habib and Amjad Kashmiri were killed during the agitation. Protesters allege that security forces used excessive force against peaceful protesters.

Demonstrations are taking place across the state

According to reports, the protests are no longer limited to Rawalakot only. Demonstrations and bandh have been called in several areas including Muzaffarabad, Mirpur, Tata Pani and Plandri. Protestors were also reported to have blocked major roads in Plandri. The Kashmiri community living abroad has also expressed concern over the deteriorating situation in PoK. According to reports, solidarity demonstrations have been held in the United Kingdom, while the human rights situation in the region has been raised in various international forums in the United States and Australia.
