‘Police department is run by black Englishmen, they take two thousand rupees for performing duty’
Bureau Prayagraj. There has been a serious allegation of extorting Rs 2,000 each in exchange for the duty of constables in the police line. This allegation is on the guard commander, enumeration in-charge, RI and police officers. The video of 2015 batch constable Sunil Kumar Shukla making this allegation went viral on social media on Thursday. There was a stir in the entire police department after the video went viral. The Police Commissioner has constituted a committee to investigate the allegations. However, the officials have currently termed the constable’s allegations as false.
In the video, constable Sunil accused the RI of running a network of extortion through the enumeration in-charge. He told that RI appoints an enumeration in-charge. The enumeration then appoints a guard commander in charge. The guard commander charges two thousand rupees per soldier every month. The constable has described the IPS officers as black Englishmen and alleged that they also have a part in the extortion. Sunil has demanded action from Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in this matter.
The police line is numbered with names A, B, C, D. According to constable Sunil, in one count 400 to 500 policemen are deployed. The duties of the police personnel deployed in each census are different. By collecting two thousand rupees from 400 soldiers, one calculation results in recovery of eight lakh rupees. He has also alleged such corruption in police lines across the state.
The Police Commissioner has ordered ADCP Line Rajesh Yadav to investigate the entire matter. ACP Line Shipra Pandey claimed to have followed the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for guard duty. It is monitored by officers and the duties of the enumeration in-charges are also changed from time to time. According to sources, apart from doing the desired duty, Rs 5,000 each is also charged for not doing the duty. Inspectors and constables disappear from duty without paying this amount every month.
