Police removed Sonam Wangchuk from Jantar Mantar and took her to hospital, heavy police force deployed
Sonam Wangchuk: Educationist Sonam Wangchuk, who was on hunger strike for the last 20 days at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, was removed by Delhi Police on Saturday morning and admitted to Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital. Police said that this action has been taken in view of the orders of the High Court and his deteriorating health condition.
According to the information, the new Police Commissioner Anurag Kumar had a meeting with senior officers of New Delhi Range on the Sonam Wangchuk case at Delhi Police Headquarters late on Friday evening. After the meeting, on Saturday morning the police reached Jantar Mantar and took Sonam Wangchuk to the hospital. DCP Sachin Sharma and Joint CP Deepak Purohit of New Delhi district were present on the occasion.
Concern had increased regarding the demonstration on July 20.
The protesters had announced a big demonstration and Parliament march on 20 July. During this time, monsoon session of Parliament is also proposed. It is believed that the police took this step keeping security and law and order in mind.
The protesters claim that Abhijeet Dipke had gone to the washroom when the police team reached the spot and took Sonam Wangchuk to the hospital. It has also been alleged that the police team came to pick him up wearing doctors’ clothes. However, Delhi Police has not made any official comment on these allegations.

According to the police, while following the instructions of the High Court, some protesters tried to create obstruction, which created some chaos, but the police controlled the situation by exercising restraint. Police also appealed to the protesters present at Jantar Mantar to vacate the site peacefully.
