Tamil Nadu News Marathi: Tamil Nadu DMK leader and Leader of Opposition Udayanidhi Stalin was detained by the police from his residence in Chennai for allegedly making objectionable comments against Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay and actress Trisha. The case has heated up the political atmosphere in the state.
The incident took place during a DMK protest in Thanjavur on the issue of sharing of Cauvery river water. While addressing the rally, Udayanidhi Stalin was accused of making allegedly ambiguous and objectionable remarks against Chief Minister Vijay. It is alleged that objectionable slogans were also raised against actress Trisha during the same rally.
Vijay ‘s Tamilga Vetri Kalgham (TVK) party filed a complaint with the police in this case . After that, Thanjavur police registered an FIR against Udayanidhi Stalin. Considering the possibility of arrest, Udayanidhi filed a petition for anticipatory bail in the Madras High Court. On Tuesday, a bench of Justice G. K. Ilanthirayan sought an urgent hearing on the petition. The court accepted it and agreed to hear the bail application in the afternoon.

Meanwhile, the matter has reached the National Commission for Women (NCW). TVK national spokesperson Paja Selvakumar has filed a complaint with the commission, alleging that Udayanidhi Stalin made derogatory, obscene and sexually suggestive comments against women. He has also demanded that Udayanidhi publicly apologize and direct strict action under relevant laws. The matter has once again heated up the politics in Tamil Nadu, with everyone’s attention focused on the court hearing and further police action.
Meanwhile, earlier, on Monday, August 3, the DMK held a protest in Thanjavur, alleging negligence by the state TVK government on farmers’ welfare and the Cauvery issue. Leader of Opposition and DMK state youth wing secretary Udayanidhi Stalin presided over the protest and addressed the crowd. DMK workers and farmers from various districts participated in the event.
