Political turmoil in TMC, for the second time in two weeks Mamata Banerjee sent new working committee list to EC
Kolkata: West Bengal’s Trinamool Congress (TMC) is facing a serious internal crisis and leadership struggle these days. According to the information, amidst increasing dissatisfaction and rebel activities within the party, Chief Minister and party chief Mamata Banerjee has sent a new revised list of National Working Committee to the Election Commission. The surprising thing is that this list has been sent for the second time in the last two weeks. At the same time, this step is being seen as a strategy to strengthen the hold on the party organization and prevent any kind of dispute regarding its leadership.
List submitted to the Election Commission
According to sources, the new list has been submitted to the Election Commission with the date of June 22. Political experts believe that recent developments have affected the balance of power within TMC, due to which the party leadership had to make changes in the organizational structure.
Rebel group announced separate working committee
Interestingly, on the same day the new list was sent by Mamata Banerjee, the rebel faction of the party also announced its own separate working committee. This group has not included both Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee in its organizational structure. Let us tell you, the rebel leaders have made former minister and MLA Arup Roy the president, while many other senior leaders have been given the responsibility of various important posts.
Political circumstances changed after the elections
On the other hand, in the revised list sent by Mamata Banerjee, she has been retained as party president and Abhishek Banerjee as national general secretary. In view of the weaker than expected performance in the recent assembly elections and the increasing resentment within the party, a new working committee was formed on June 5, but within a few days the political situation has changed rapidly.
Many prominent faces separated from the organization
During this period, many prominent faces of the party have separated from the organization. During this time, some leaders resigned from their posts, while some joined the rebel camp. After this, Mamata Banerjee excluded all those leaders from the new committee and assigned important responsibilities to some new faces.
Meanwhile, controversy has also come to light regarding the financial matters of the party. A senior leader has written a letter to bank officials demanding a ban on transactions in party accounts, which has deepened the controversy. Now both the groups are claiming their respective legitimacy. In such a situation, all eyes are on the Election Commission, which will decide who will be considered the official leadership and organizational structure of the party.
