Porsche Cayenne Electric: Will be launched in India on September 30, 642 km range and 100 speed in 2.5 seconds

Automobile Desk – Porsche Cayenne Electric: Luxury car manufacturer Porsche is all set to launch the electric incarnation of its famous SUV, 'Porsche Cayenne Electric' in the Indian market. The starting ex-showroom price of this premium SUV, which is going to be officially launched on September 30, has been fixed at Rs 1.77 crore. This vehicle will be made available for Indian customers in two main variants – Standard and Turbo Electric.

Talking about design and exterior, being an electric vehicle, major changes are seen in its front profile. The traditional grill has been replaced by a new closed panel. Additionally, air vents have been added to the lower portion of the front bumper, which help balance the air pressure as well as keep the battery packaging cool. However, the shape of the bonnet and the style of the headlights are reminiscent of its old petrol-diesel model.

Not many changes have been made in the side profile of the vehicle, but in order to increase the range, it has been given the option of special aerodynamic alloy wheels ranging from 20 to 22 inches. If we pay attention to the rear profile, there is a thin and sleek LED light bar at the back, which connects the taillights on both sides.

Stepping inside the cabin, one sees a modern and button-less dashboard. Most of the physical buttons on the center console have been removed to make way for plenty of storage space. The car has a large 14.5-inch curved touchscreen infotainment screen. Apart from this, customers can also choose a 14.9-inch passenger display and a head-up display equipped with augmented reality.

In terms of features and comfort, Porsche has provided features like 4-zone climate control, panoramic sunroof and ventilated seats. For the sound system, a 14-speaker Bose system is standard, while a 20-speaker Harman Kardon system is also available as an option. 8-way electrically adjustable seats are provided in the base variant and 18-way electrically adjustable seats in the top-end variant.

In terms of performance and mechanism, this SUV comes with a huge battery pack with 113kWh capacity. The standard variant of this car, which comes with all-wheel drive setup and dual motor, gives a range of up to 642 km on a single charge, while the turbo variant can get a range of 623 km.

In terms of power, the standard model gives power of 402bhp and torque of 835Nm, whose top speed is 230 kmph. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds. On the other hand, its flagship turbo electric model generates a massive power of 1,140bhp and peak torque of 1,150Nm, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.5 seconds.
