Prabhsimran Singh, Iyer Blitz Powers PBKS to 7-Wicket Victory vs Mumbai Indians

An unbeaten knock from Prabhsimran Singh, along with Shreyas Iyer, has set up Punjab Kings’ 7-wicket victory against the Mumbai Indians at Wankhede.

His 80-run knock off 39 deliveries included 11 fours and 2 sixes. By this win, Punjab Kings retained their top spot in the IPL 2026 points table.

After being invited to bat first, Ryan Rickelton and Quinton de Kock opened the innings while Arshdeep Singh opened the bowling attack. With the Mumbai Indians struggling to score runs in the first two overs, Arshdeep Singh picked the wicket of Ryan Rickelton, who hit it straight to Shashank Singh at deep square leg.

He also reached his 100th IPL wicket with this dismissal. With his dismissal for 2 runs, Suryakumar Yadav also lost his wicket on the very next ball in the golden duck, putting pressure on the Mumbai Indians.

However, Quinton de Kock and Naman Dhir forged a 100+ run partnership and de Kock smashed his 28-ball fifty. He smashed his 25th IPL fifty, while Naman Dhir brought his fifty on 29 deliveries.

In search of wicket, Shashank Singh came to bowl and bagged the wicket of Naman Dhir. Hardik Pandya who came to bat scored only 12 runs before being dismissed on a stunning catch at long on. Shreyas Iyer runs to the long-on and leaped to take the catch in air and thrown the ball to Xavier Bartlett where he took at ease.

Sherfane Rutherford who came to bat struggled after a fierce yorkers from Arshdeep Singh and got bowled out for 1 run.

Tilak Varma who came to bat in the last ball of the prenultimate over, scored 8 runs off 3 deliveries before being dismissed on a run out.

With Mayank Rawat and Quinton de Kock at crease, Mumbai Indians went on to score 195 in their 20 over innings. Arshdeep Singh bagged three wickets while Marco Jansen and Shashank Singh bagged one wicket each.

Chasing a 196 run target, Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh opened the innings while Deepak Chahar opened the bowling attack.

AM Ghazanfar bagged the wickets of Priyansh Arya (15) and Cooper Connolly (17) making an impact. However, a solid knock from Prabhsimran guided PBKS to post 61 runs in the powerplay.

Batting at the most, Prabhsimran Singh smashed a fifty and continued to slaughter, while Shreyas Iyer played a calm innings aiming to complete the innings.

He went on to smash fifty and scored 66 runs off 35 deliveries before being dismissed by Shardul Thakur. Marcus Stoinis came to bat and joined Prabhsimran to complete the innings.

Punjab Kings completed the chase in the 17th over, with Stoinis remained unbeaten 10 runs while Prabhsimran Singh scored 80 runs off 39 deliveries.

AM Ghanzanfar bagged two wickets while Shardul Thakur bagged one wicket for Mumbai Indians. Punjab Kings will play their next game against Lucknow Super Giants on APril 19 at Maharaja Yadavindra Singh PCA Stadium.
