The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made a major reshuffle in the selection committee of the men’s cricket team and appointed former spinner Pragyan Ojha as the new chairman. He will take over this responsibility in place of Ajit Agarkar. Ojha has got this important responsibility on the basis of his seniority of playing the maximum number of Test matches in his career.
Ashok Malhotra and Jatin Paranjape, who are part of BCCI’s Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC), completed the process for the appointment of selection committee members. Both of them unanimously recommended Ramesh Powar’s name after screening and interviewing the applicants at the BCCI headquarters.
Along with this, former cricketer Ramesh Powar has also been included as a new member of the selection committee. The board highly praised the tenure of former president Ajit Agarkar, under whose leadership the Indian team had won three ICC trophies, two Asia Cup titles and an Asian Games gold medal. Now Pragyan Ojha will play the role of chairman in the new committee.
Ramesh Powar has played 2 Test and 31 ODI matches for India during his international career. After retiring from sports, he has earned a big name in the world of coaching.
Apart from being the head coach of the Indian women’s team, he has also coached the teams of Mumbai and Gujarat. Apart from this, he has also held the responsibility of bowling coach in BCCI Center of Excellence. While being the coach of the women’s team, he had won the Asia Cup title for India and also won the silver medal in the Commonwealth Games.
