Prasidh Krishna got injured during the second ODI

Prasidh Krishna felt a strain while bowling during the second ODI match of the series played in Guwahati. In this match, he could not even bowl his full quota of overs and went out of the field after bowling only 5 overs. Indian team's batting coach Sitanshu Kotak confirmed this after the match and said that the medical team is keeping an eye on Prasidh's injury. He will be sent to the BCCI Center of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru for further investigation and recovery.

Anshul Kamboj's surprise entry in Team India

After Prasidh Krishna's exit, the selectors have chosen Chennai Super Kings fast bowler Anshul Kamboj as his replacement. However, this has not been officially announced by BCCI yet. Anshul Kamboj was a part of the 'India-A' team for the ongoing red-ball match against Australia-A, but after getting a call from Team India, he immediately left the match and left for Chandigarh. Kamboj had performed well in the domestic season and IPL 2026. Where he was the highest wicket taker bowler for his franchise CSK.

Tough competition for place in playing eleven

The third and last ODI match of the series is to be played on Saturday, October 3 in New Chandigarh. However, despite Anshul Kamboj joining the team, he will face a tough challenge from experienced bowler Mohammad Siraj to be included in the playing eleven. Siraj was sitting on the bench in both the initial matches and is considered the biggest contender to play in place of Prasidh. In the second ODI, West Indies had scored 400 runs against the Indian bowlers, even then questions were being raised about not playing Siraj.

India leads 2-0 in the series

Under the captaincy of Shubman Gill, the Indian team has already taken an unbeatable 2-0 lead in this 3-match ODI series. India had chased West Indies' historic run of 405 runs in the second ODI.
