Rayan Cherki and Erling Haaland scored brace as Manchester City defeated Crystal Palace 4-1 in an away fixture to maintain its perfect start to the Premier League 2026-27 season on Friday.
Highest goalscorer of the last season, Haaland opened his account this year 17 minutes into Selhurst Park with a neat header.
Cherki then doubled the City’s lead early in the second half when he danced through five of Palace players and poked the ball home from close range.
However, the home side reduced the deficit almost immediately when Yeremy Pino’s free kick hit the bar and then rebounded into the net off the despairing back of City goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.
Cherki however restored visitor’s two-goal advantage — and registered his first brace of his Premier League career — two minutes later when his deflected shot from just outside the box went past Dean Henderson.
Haaland rounded off the scoring with a left-footed strike six minutes from time and got City on top of the league with six points from its first two games.
