Islamabad has named the rover 'Jinnah-1' among the list of names released for the last several days. This name is kept in memory of Quaid-e-Azam of Pakistan Mohammad Ali Jinnah.
Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO), Pakistan's space organization, announced its name on Thursday. It is noteworthy that this rover is likely to be sent to the moon along with China's Chang-E-8 mission in 2029. Here it will work in the South Pole area. This is a big opportunity in the field of space for Pakistan, a country which is constantly struggling with economic problems. More than a scientific experiment, this is also an attempt to directly take Pakistani technology to the moon.
Suggestions were first sought in Pakistan for the name of the rover.
Pakistan was very excited about the name of its first lunar rover. In such a situation, the agency had organized a public competition for this. According to the report of Pakistani media, more than 4,000 suggestions were received for the name of the rover in this competition. In this, it was chosen as 'Jinnah-1' after the name of Mohammad Ali Jinnah.
What will Pakistan's 'Jinnah-1' do on the moon?
Pakistan's Space Agency also gave information about the possible mission of Jinnah-1. He told that in this mission to be held in 2029, the rover will conduct scientific investigation on the most difficult south pole of the moon. It will mainly study the lunar surface features, plasma and radiation. Additionally, it will also contribute to future lunar missions and experiments related to the possibility of sustaining human activities on the Moon for a long time.
