President Draupadi Murmu reached Romania, grand welcome at the airport, know what benefit India will get

President Draupadi Murmu Romania Visit: President Draupadi Murmu reached Romania’s capital Bucharest on Thursday in the last leg of her three-nation tour. This state visit is being considered an important step towards strengthening India’s diplomatic relations with Eastern Europe. This is President Murmu’s first foreign visit in 2026.

The President’s Secretariat has launched the social media platform ‘X’ He posted on Twitter and wrote, President Draupadi Murmu reached Bucharest, Romania as part of the last stop of her three-nation state visit. Romania’s Foreign Minister Oana-Silvia Toiu welcomed him warmly at the airport. President Murmu left India on Sunday. During this trip she is visiting Moldova, North Macedonia and Romania.

Will hold an important meeting with the President of Romania

During her visit to Romania, President Murmu will hold talks with Romanian President Nicolas Dan and Caretaker Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan. She will also meet President of the Senate of Romania Mircea Abrudan, Speaker of the House of Representatives Sorin Grindianu and members of the India-Romania Parliamentary Friendship Group. Apart from this, the President will address the India-Romania Business Forum and will also interact with the people of the Indian community living there.

Romania is an important partner of the EU, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said last week. Following the completion of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between India and the European Union, the economic partnership between the two countries will be further strengthened in the coming years. The President’s visit to the three countries shows the importance India attaches to strengthening its bilateral relations with these countries and enhancing its engagement with the entire Eastern European region.

Emphasis on strengthening relations with Eastern Europe

During his address to the Parliament of North Macedonia on Tuesday, President Murmu said that India sees South-Eastern Europe as an emerging hub of development and new ideas, and not as a marginalized region. He said, we are meeting at an important period in human history. The balance of political and economic forces in the world is changing. In this new era, India sees South-Eastern Europe not as a marginalized region, but as a dynamic center of development and innovation.
