Pithoragarh. A case of two brothers from the border area of Uttarakhand who went to Russia in search of employment has come to light. According to family members, the passports and visas of both the brothers have been kept in their possession and they are being made to work against their wishes. There has been no contact between the two for the last 20 days, due to which there is an atmosphere of worry in the family.
Bhupendra Singh Karki and his brother Anand Singh Karki, residents of Kalika village of Dharchula, had gone to Russia for employment. According to family members, around eight lakh rupees were taken from them in the name of sending it abroad. After reaching Russia, both the brothers were not even provided local SIM cards, making contact difficult.

Bhupendra’s wife Tanuja Karki said that for some time both the brothers used to talk through internet calls, but now there has been no contact for about 20 days. Due to this worry, his father-in-law has also suffered a heart attack. Tanuja is nine months pregnant and is taking care of her elderly in-laws along with her three-year-old child.
Under the leadership of senior leader of Uttarakhand Kranti Dal, Kashi Singh Airi, the family members met the District Magistrate and sought help in the matter. Airi also spoke to Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami over phone and informed him about the situation. He said that if necessary, the matter will be taken up with the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India for the safe return of the two brothers.
