President Murmu Inaugurates ‘Saushrutam 2026’ at AIIA, New Delhi
President Droupadi Murmu inaugurated ‘Saushrutam 2026’ at the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) on the occasion of Sushruta Jayanti, celebrating the legacy of Acharya Sushruta, revered as the father of surgery. She also inaugurated the MRI section of AIIA.
Addressing the gathering, the President congratulated the Ayurveda fraternity and said Acharya Sushruta’s pioneering work in surgery was revolutionary for its time. She noted that his treatise, the Sushruta Samhitaintroduced advanced techniques in plastic surgery, cataract removal, tumour treatment, and ENT procedures, shaping medical knowledge across the world.
President Murmu emphasised that harmonising traditional wisdom with modern science would benefit humanity. She lauded the Government’s efforts to establish Ayurveda and Yoga globally, highlighting the importance of standardised documentation, digital health integration, and scientific validation to strengthen global acceptance.
Encouraging young students and researchers, she said the future of Ayurveda lies in their hands. She urged them to follow Acharya Sushruta’s path — guided by curiosity, integrity, and compassion — and remain steadfast in medical ethics and service to patients.
The President expressed confidence that deliberations at For Saushrut 2026 would generate new knowledge and foster international collaboration in Ayurvedic surgery. The three‑day seminar brings together eminent surgeons, academicians, and researchers from India and abroad to advance holistic healthcare.
