Jabalpur, 21 June. On the occasion of International Yoga Day, President Draupadi Murmu participated in the mass yoga program organized in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh on Sunday and congratulated yoga practitioners from all over the world. On this occasion, he said, ‘Today we are celebrating the great tradition of India, which has shown humanity the path to a healthy, balanced and meaningful life. Yoga is an invaluable gift given by our cultural heritage to the world community.
President Murmu said that Yoga is a powerful medium to connect the individual with himself, the society with nature and the entire humanity with the broader world consciousness. Today, when the world is facing many challenges, Yoga can play an important role in showing humanity the path to peace, balance, harmony and collective welfare.

The President further said that in the year 2014, on India’s initiative, the United Nations General Assembly had declared June 21 every year as International Yoga Day. With that announcement, the identity of Yoga system as a powerful medium for world welfare has been further strengthened. Today, crores of people in many countries of the world are making yoga a part of their daily life.
This year’s theme – ‘Yoga for Healthy Aging’
He said, “The theme of International Yoga Day – 2026 is ‘Yoga for Healthy Aging’. This theme expresses the usefulness of Yoga for a healthy, active, self-reliant and dignified life of the senior members of the society. The lifestyle we adopt today becomes the basis of our health and happiness in the future. Yoga helps a person to remain active and self-reliant even in old age. At the same time, it also provides mental peace and emotional balance.”

President Murmu said that the Government of India is continuously working in the field of yoga education, research, training and public awareness to take yoga to the masses. He was happy to see that many organizations globally were inspiring people to adopt yoga practices. He said that on the strength of the sincere efforts of the organizations related to Yoga, Yoga will reach every person and will become the pillar of welfare of all humanity.
Appeal to common people to make yoga an integral part of daily life
President Murmu urged people to make yoga an integral part of their daily lives. He said that by doing so they will contribute to the great goal of building healthy individuals, healthy families, healthy society, healthy nation and healthy world.
