Prince Narula Opens Up About Anxiety Battle, Reveals He Took 18 Tablets A Day And Feared Falling Asleep
Reality television star Prince Narula has spoken candidly about his battle with anxiety, revealing that he once took as many as 18 tablets a day and went for nearly six months without sleeping properly because he feared he would not wake up. The actor and television personality shared his experience during an appearance on Double Date with Neha Dhupia and Angad Bedi, where he also discussed how the condition affected his physical health, career and family life.
Prince said he grew up in a village in Punjab where mental health issues were rarely discussed, admitting that he previously did not understand conditions such as anxiety or depression. Looking back, he said he would often dismiss people who spoke about such struggles, believing they simply needed to enjoy life. However, his own experience changed that perception completely and made him realise that anxiety is a serious medical condition.
Describing the onset of his illness, Prince recalled experiencing frequent palpitations and panic attacks. He said the anxiety became so overwhelming that he would sometimes leave his car in the middle of the road or walk out of movie theatres because he was unable to cope with the fear and discomfort. As the condition worsened, he gradually withdrew from work, stopped meeting people and isolated himself from those around him.
The actor revealed that his mental health struggles also took a toll on his physical well-being. According to Prince, prolonged stress led to several health complications, including increased cholesterol levels and liver fatigue. He said there was a period when he was taking 18 tablets every day to manage the various health issues caused by anxiety. He also lost nearly 20 kilograms during that phase.

Prince said one of the most difficult aspects of the illness was his fear of going to sleep. He explained that he became convinced he would not wake up the next morning if he slept, which led him to stay awake for long hours despite extreme exhaustion. He also believed he was suffering from multiple serious illnesses, even though medical tests did not support those fears. He said he wanted to spend as much time as possible with his daughter because of those recurring thoughts.

The television personality added that the most confusing part of the experience was that there was no obvious reason behind his anxiety. He said he was financially stable, his professional life was progressing well and his relationship with wife Yuvika Chaudhary remained strong. Despite everything appearing normal from the outside, he found himself trapped in a cycle of fear and anxiety that he struggled to understand.
Addressing rumours about his marriage, Prince clarified that anxiety never led him to consider separation from Yuvika. He said disagreements are a normal part of every relationship, but he never thought about ending the marriage because of the difficulties he was facing. He described Yuvika as a constant source of support during one of the toughest phases of his life.
Yuvika also spoke about the emotional impact of Prince’s illness, recalling that he had moved to Chandigarh when his condition deteriorated. She said he sent her a message saying he was in a very bad state and needed her. After receiving the message, she immediately travelled to be with him. Yuvika said she had to simultaneously care for Prince, their infant daughter and their household, while trying to understand how best to support him through his mental health challenges.
Prince Narula and Yuvika Chaudhary met during Bigg Boss 9 in 2015 before getting married in 2018. The couple welcomed their daughter, Ikleen, through IVF in 2024. By sharing his experience publicly, Prince has added his voice to growing conversations around mental health, emphasising that anxiety can affect anyone regardless of financial stability, professional success or personal relationships.
