Priyank Kharge said – How is it wrong to ask questions to RSS? No one is above the law, neither you nor me

New Delhi. The ongoing dispute between the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and the Karnataka government is gaining momentum. Karnataka Home Minister Priyank Kharge is continuously targeting RSS. He had written a letter to RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat asking many questions related to the legal status of the organization, registration, sources of funding, income-expenditure and accountability.

Now on Tuesday, he once again raised questions on the Sangh in a press conference and said, ‘If RSS has not registered itself in 100 years, then will it not register itself in the next 200 years also? Priyank Kharge has made this comment in response to the statement of RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, in which he had said, ‘RSS does not need registration and no government has made such a demand in the last 100 years.

Regarding raising questions on RSS, Priyank Kharge said on Tuesday that ‘No one is above the law, neither you nor I’. Karnataka Home Minister Priyank Kharge has made a scathing attack on RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat and BJP. He said that many questions are being raised regarding his letter, but the statement given by Mohan Bhagwat was not a reply to his letter.

Priyank Kharge said that being the Home Minister, it is his responsibility to ensure law and order and accountability. He claimed that a report by Akhil Bharatiya Sabha states that RSS has a strong presence in Karnataka and the organization has organized thousands of shakhas, marches and events. In such a situation, RSS cannot be left as a private organization.

‘How is it wrong to ask questions to RSS?’

He said that when people can also demand answers regarding the alleged donation scam related to Ram Mandir Trust, then how can it be wrong to ask questions to RSS? Kharge said that ‘Yesterday I saw the video of Mohan Bhagwat in Thrissur, in which he called my statement politically motivated. You can say anything to your volunteers, but not to the law. Assign someone to answer my questions.

The Karnataka Home Minister also raised the question as to why an Advanced Security Liaison (ASL) team is required for Mohan Bhagwat, when its expenses are borne by taxpayers’ money. He said that if lakhs of people gather in RSS programs, then it should be clear from where the money comes from. Priyank Kharge sarcastically said that if RSS has not registered itself in 100 years, then will it not register itself in the next 200 years also? He also claimed that in the past he had to approach the then leaders to lift the ban on the organisation.

Kharge also targeted BJP’s reaction. He said that questions are being asked to RSS, but BJP is giving answers. According to him, when every institution and individual in the country is accountable, then RSS should also be accountable. No one is above the law, neither you nor me. He said that at present there is no official response from RSS and BJP on these new allegations of Kharge. On the other hand, on this matter, Alok Kumar, International President of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad said that they should first tell the law which makes registration mandatory for all organizations. As far as the income of RSS and its information to the Income Tax Department is concerned, this is a separate subject and is answered under the relevant rules and laws.
