Mumbai: Priyanka Chopra has opened up about her relationship with husband Nick Jonas and why his respect for her Indian culture has always been important to her.
In a recent interview with E! News, the actor said she may not have been able to love Nick if he did not respect the culture and traditions that are an important part of her life.
“I don’t know if I’d love him if he didn’t. That is a big part of any story or any relationship that is multicultural. I think it’s really important to have a sense of respect for your partner’s roots,” she said.
Talking about what helps keep the spark alive in their relationship, Priyanka said, “Being kind to your partner. That’s something that’s really important.”
Recently, Priyanka also shared an emotional message for Nick after the release of his new album Sunday Best.
In her note, the actor described being with Nick as the “best decision” she has ever made and expressed her love and admiration for him.
“There aren’t enough words to express myself, but I’ll try. You are what dreams are made of… Find yourself someone who not only loves and respects you but cherishes you like a treasure and isn’t afraid to show it. I’m so grateful that the universe led me to you. You’re the best decision I ever made,” she wrote.
Praising Nick’s talent, she added, “I’m so in awe of your endless talent. You’re the most honest and sincere person I’ve ever known.. and the most beautiful part of it is.. It’s just who you are. You don’t even try. You are the reason I smile every day. Thank you for being mine. These pictures are from our early days, but they still feel like yesterday.”
Calling Nick “a secure person”, Priyanka further wrote, “I’m so proud of this album. You bared your soul in every note and every lyric. It takes a really secure person to be able to reach down so deep and share it with the world. I love you endlessly. Do yourself a favour. Grab the one you love and listen from the beginning. This is how love should be. #SundayBest out now.”
On the work front, Priyanka is set to make her comeback to Indian cinema with SS Rajamouli’s Varanasi, alongside Mahesh Babu and Prithviraj Sukumaran.
