Protests against Balen Shah continue in Nepal… India increased vigil on the border

New Delhi. The Indian Foreign Ministry has given a strict procedure on Nepali PM Balen Shah’s claim of occupying Indian land. Said that there is an established mechanism between the two countries to resolve border disputes, through which a solution will be found. Also rejected the role of any third party in this. Meanwhile, protests are continuing in various areas of Nepal adjacent to Uttarakhand. Activists of various students and youth organizations are registering protests against Balen Shah’s statement at many places including Dadeldhura. Meanwhile, security agencies have increased vigilance on the India-Nepal border.

Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and local police have jointly intensified patrolling in the border areas. Security agencies are continuously monitoring the trail routes, checkposts and border villages to keep a check on infiltration, smuggling and other illegal activities. Special focus is being placed on those areas where the border is relatively open and there is more movement of people.

  • Joint patrolling of SSB and local police

On Tuesday, the police and SSB team conducted joint patrolling under the leadership of Police Station Officer Neema Bohra in Baluwakot area. During this time, the soldiers kept an eye on suspicious activities and appealed to the local people to remain alert and immediately inform the police about any suspicious person or incident. Security agencies say that regular patrolling and monitoring will continue to maintain peace and security in the border areas.

Foreign Ministry on Balen Shah’s statement

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said at the weekly press briefing on Tuesday that we have seen the comments of the Prime Minister of Nepal regarding the India-Nepal border as well as the statement issued by the Nepalese Foreign Ministry on this matter.

Randhir Jaiswal said that about 98 percent of the India-Nepal border has been determined, still some parts are yet to be resolved. He said that this situation has arisen due to change in the flow of Gandak river. Apart from this, there are also cases of cross-border occupation and encroachment on no-man’s land in designated parts of the border, which are being jointly mapped. Randhir Jaiswal said that we have established bilateral mechanisms to deal with all border related matters. It should be clear to all concerned that there is no role for any third party in bilateral matters between India and Nepal.

India has also reacted sharply to the mention of Jammu and Kashmir in the recent joint statement of Pakistan and the European Union. Jaiswal said that we completely reject such unnecessary mention of India’s internal matters in the joint press statement.
