Srinagar: Security forces have arrested two suspects and recovered a pistol, ammunition and a hand grenade during a joint search operation in Pulwama district of Jammu & Kashmir.
Joint Forces Conduct Search Operation in Pulwama
A joint Search and Destroy Operation (SADO) was conducted during the intervening night of August 24 and 25 in the Yarwan forest area near CB Nath village in Rajpora.
The operation was carried out by Pulwama Police, the Army's 44 Rashtriya Rifles and the Central Reserve Police Force's (CRPF) 183rd Battalion. During the operation, security personnel were conducting searches in the forest area as part of ongoing security measures.
Two Suspects Intercepted During Movement
During the operation, joint forces noticed two individuals moving in a suspicious manner from the forest towards CB Nath village. The security personnel intercepted the two suspects and detained them for questioning.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Latif Ahmed Deedad, son of Ghulam Mohammad Deedad, a resident of Lassi Daban, and Aijaz Ahmed Bajad, son of Nazir Ahmed Bajad, a resident of Bun Kha Bamnoo.
Weapons Recovered During Search
A search of the two suspects led to the recovery of a pistol, 12 pistol rounds and a hand grenade. The recovered weapons and ammunition were immediately taken into custody by the security forces.
The seizure has raised concerns, and agencies are examining the possible purpose behind carrying the arms and any potential links of the suspects.
Further Investigation Underway
Both suspects have been arrested and are being questioned to ascertain their alleged involvement in any unlawful activities or possible attacks.
