Strengthening self-employment: Subsidy assistance of Rs 5.39 crore to 1229 beneficiaries

Punjab News: The present Punjab Government has consistently taken impressive steps to strengthen social justice and economic equality during its four years in office. Under the leadership of Social Justice, Empowerment and Minority Affairs Minister Dr. Baljeet Kaur, Punjab Scheduled Caste Land Development and Finance Corporation has made important efforts to economically empower the needy families. Giving information, Dr. Baljeet Kaur said that from the year 2022-23 to 2025-26, loans worth Rs 26.68 crore were provided to 1367 beneficiaries for various self-employment activities, due to which their income increased and they moved towards self-reliance.

He informed that the government is not limited to just financial assistance but is providing planned and result-oriented support to make the beneficiaries self-reliant. In this sequence, subsidy assistance of Rs 5.39 crore has been given to 1229 beneficiaries, which has brought economic strength and new hope to many families. He said, “Our aim is not just to provide assistance, but to make people self-reliant.” These efforts are not limited to statistics, but stories of real change in the lives of those families. Some started small businesses, others turned their skills into employment—and today they are living a respectable life. This change is giving a message of new hope in the villages and cities of Punjab.

Dr. Baljeet Kaur further informed that continuous guidance, technical assistance and market linking are being done to the beneficiaries through “handholding support” so that they can remain successful in the long run. He said that the progress of a family forms the basis of progress of the entire society. He also said that the Punjab Government under the able leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is committed to providing equal opportunities to every section of the society while realizing the vision of ‘Inclusive Development for All’. The aim is to build a prosperous and equitable Punjab by economically empowering all the backward classes including the Scheduled Castes. These initiatives show that development in Punjab is no longer limited to paper schemes, but has become an effective medium to bring real change in the lives of every needy.
